ABSTRACT:

Climate change stands as one of the most critical challenges facing our planet today, with its profound impacts deep across ecosystems, economies, and societies worldwide. In recent years, substantial strides have been made in unravelling the complexities of climate change and its multifaceted implications. This paper endeavours to provide an encompassing overview of the preliminary work conducted in the field of climate change, shedding light on pivotal findings, methodologies employed, and emerging trends that shape our understanding and response to this global crisis. Through an exploration of advancements in climate science, sectoral impacts, mitigation and adaptation strategies, and the role of policy and governance, this paper aims to distil existing knowledge, pinpoint research gaps, and offer insights to guide future studies and policy interventions aimed at combating and adapting to climate change. Advancements in climate science have been instrumental in deepening our comprehension of the mechanisms driving climate change. From improved climate models to enhanced observational techniques, researchers have made significant progress in deciphering the complex interplay of factors contributing to global warming. These advancements have facilitated more accurate projections of future climate scenarios, enabling policymakers to make informed decisions and devise effective strategies to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions and minimize climate-related risks.
